Aren’t the state duals this weekend? Has nothing of significance happened this season? Where does everyone go to get their GA wrestling fix?January 15, 2019 at 4:10 pm #10825AnonymousInactive
Don Corr mentioned possibility of consolidating to 6 classifications next year with 9-10 teams each area.
Looks like a lot of single A folks are here: http://gasportsforum.com/board/51/wrestling-varsityJanuary 25, 2019 at 1:36 am #10832AnonymousInactive
Alright let’s get this forum going. State duals was very eventful this weekend. Saw Valdosta questionably come up on top this weekend after Richmond hill got scammed. Saw Woodland Claim the title in 5a in the most exciting and amped dual of the finals, we saw Camden continue the domination, and Jefferson squeak by to keep there streak alive. Commerce handled business down there in the minor leagues, and social circle continued its legacy while Woodward came out on top in 7aJanuary 25, 2019 at 1:45 am #10833AnonymousInactive
But know the question. Who is the best team in the state, regardless of classification? The answer is easy and here are the top 4:
4.Collins hill (maybe a run at third or possibly second under correct circumstances)
I may get crucified for saying Collins Hill is better than Mtn. view but they are. It was a very unlucky match for Collins hill with guys getting pinned in overtime and they proved they are better with how they did against Camden.
Camden is by far the best team in the state and they proved it by beating Woodland at two tournaments this year and by running through the 7a bracket.
Woodland has about as good of a 113-138 as a lineup can get but they are far too weak up top. Camden might pin woodland at every match 145 and up except for 60 and Camden’s 106 and 113 could very well pick up ones also. The 113’s have split matches in Osceola and the 106 for Camden would for sure win. Woodland then at 120-138 doesn’t find any bonus points except out of Mccrary and Camden could also win the 138 match.
No argument Camden is the best team in the state but next year it could be Woodland or Collins hill if Camden doesn’t replace this senior heavy lineupJanuary 26, 2019 at 2:27 am #10836knarkillKeymaster
Woodland’s 145 is pretty decent. Some Jaxon Smith kid. ;-). He did beat Camden’s kid at the knockout, and win Danny Byron.
To some other points, our 106 and 113 has spilt this season with Camden.
We score bonus points at 120, 132, and 138.
126 would be a tight match, but I give the nod to Henson.
And Woodland wins at 145.
But, I do agree, Camden has the best overall team in Ga.

I understand that a letter regarding the combining the classes has gone out to each schools A D along with the potential regional alignment for that specific school. Someone post a copy……….January 31, 2019 at 5:02 pm #10844AnonymousInactive
Georgia will be back at 6 classifications after next year so there will be a lot of realignment of regions & sectionals. Classifications in Georgia are like the weather – if you don’t like what’s current, just hang around a while – it will surely change shortly!February 1, 2019 at 4:12 pm #10845AnonymousInactive
I heard it was 6 classifications for duals, but 3 for individual, grouping 1-2 3-4 5-6.February 3, 2019 at 1:39 am #10846AnonymousInactive
I helped run a 4A tournament today- five brackets had only 4 participants, the other nine had 5. That means every wrestler advanced as either qualifier or alternate. Hopefully these rumors of realignment are legit, because IMO something needs to change.
