InactiveSo I have heard that Commerce is down compared to previous years. Is it possible that this year we see another team challenge their streak of 4 state titles? Or if you have anymore info or opinions of other rising teams in Single A feel free to comment.

InactiveOk I’ll bit, because this can’t really be a serious question. Commerce is loaded again this year. From last years team they return (6) 2 state champs, 3 runner-ups, and 1 3rd place finisher. Plus, they have a few really good middle school kids coming up from last year to help fill their lighter weights. Oh dont forget about the ones who sat the bench behind last years starts. Who could beat them?? Lets take the next 2 teams that placed below them: Trion. Of there 8 placers they return 5. Dont see those 5 placing higher then the 6 placers from Commerce. Plus, I know their middle school kids coming in arent as strong as Commerce’s.
Next would be Wesleyan. Solid team and might be 2nd or 3rd this year. They also return 5 placers, but again those 5 wouldn’t place high then Commerce and their fill-in weights are nearly as strong.
Commerce will again have more champs then any other team plus win state by at least 100+ points.December 8, 2017 at 2:27 am #8571Anonymous
InactiveCOMMERCE, watched them last week at the Panther. They have some really good wrestlers! I was impressed by there 113, 170,220, and heavy… they had some others there that looked good but those 4 stood out. 113 teached and pinned all the way thru to finals, 170very strong kid, 220 wasn’t even close, didnt see him wrestle out of first round, and to heavy!! Good kid wrestled well and moved good as a heavy!! This team might be a good one to watch. IMO!

InactiveUntil other single A teams learn how to put on a head gear, they will continue to dominate single A. They might only have 13 of 14 in the finals this year but all is good in C town

InactiveAs a team they should have enough again to win the team Title,But…I think Darlington has 4 State Champs this year.Blankenship,Woods, should 3peat!If I were any where close to McDurmon what ever weight he is I’d run the other way,Man among Boys IMO!Peak finishes his Senior year with a Title as well….Luallen Trion gets his this year also!

InactiveDarlington having 4 champs will be really hard. I think it will be similar to last year with 2 winning it and 2 coming in 2nd. There is just too much fire power around those weight classes for Blankenship, Wood, Peek, and McDurmon to all win it all. Within their weight class you’ll probably have: Nadal (2nd), Dearth (1st), Sperin (3rd), Burchett (2nd), Brooks (1st), Luallen (2nd), Patrick (3rd). That doesn’t include any new comers.

InactiveYou may want to look up the results from Kingsport last weekend to see how Commerce did with 10 kids. I think all is gonna be A O K

Inactivevisited Darlington Wednesday night, can’t say they gonna do much in Dual play due to giving up 18 i think before the match starts and about 3-4 young wrestlers in other spots but….Traditional is another story!!They have 7 that I think will out score Commerce in there weight classes.IMO they have 6-7 State placers.3-4 State Champs and 3 more thats gonna Surprise some Folks….Hats off,Darlington still Stands for the Flag and Sings National Anthem before toeing the line!

InactiveThe biggest problem that a Single A team would face against Commerce is pure depth. The second place team from last year (Trion) has a three-time runner up who just came up a point shy at the McCallie Invitational.
Luallen and Blevins will make it to the final and COULD win, but nobody else on that team is a true threat to place top 4. THAT lack of depth means almost zero points outside of their studs. Commerce has mid level wrestlers that will finish with points. They definitely won’t stack the finals the way they did 3 years ago, but they have a lock on Single A for the long-term foreseeable future.December 18, 2017 at 1:57 pm #8659Anonymous
