This list is a “Credential” list or resume’ for accomplished high school-aged wrestlers in our state. Credentials should only be high-school-level events. Weights listed are most recent HS weight class as indicated by TrackWrestling. Also, wrestlers are listed by age and high school class. We feel like knowing the “cohort” each wrestler is associated with gives more common-sense information about the wrestling group – more-so, sometimes, than the wrestler’s high school class in some cases. As such, wrestlers are listed based on their current USA year.
The intent of this list isn’t necessarily to rank wrestlers in our state, but it should be an honor to have one’s name on the “Credential List.” Obviously, we cannot place all 98 current state champions on the credentialed list. There are some wrestlers listed because they are thought by most in the wrestling community to be national level wrestlers based on success at national duals and traditional national tournaments. Wrestlers making the list and guidelines for the list were selected by a small committee. The list is not exhaustive – if we have made an error, please suggest wrestlers in your comments below along with the wrestler’s national credentials and I will update the list. I probably even left off great friends, but I can assure you, it was by accident. The goal is to celebrate our “Georgia Boys” by having a list of all wrestlers with National Placement credentials listed on this post.
If you have a wrestler that beat a Credentialed wrestler, congratulations! That’s a great accomplishment! But, to get on this list a wrestler has to win on the big stage and step on the podium.
Qualifying Credentials: Beyond the Georgia State tournament, only placement in Folkstyle tournaments where any wrestler could attend are considered. For example, McCallie, Buford, and Coastal Clash are definitely tough tournaments, but only wrestlers on teams whose coaches signed up could attend. As the Super 32 Qualifier is the only open, all-class tournament in our state, it was decided that the Super 32 Qualifier is the toughest folkstyle tournament our state has to offer and placement in that event is included. There was much debate regarding Freestyle and Greco credentials. Ultimately it was decided that, with the exception of Fargo and UWW placement, Freestyle and Greco credentials should be left off of this list.

InactiveCan we remove this list- it is worthless. Colleges care about what grade the wrestlers are in, not what grade they “should” be. Holdbacks are a part of every sport. Deal with it! Do you want your kid to be the best 120 in the state or the best first year junior, from the South, with a medium income of over 100K and likes classical music.
