InactiveRight now areas are based on geography and size of the school, but some areas still have three hour drives and some small schools can compete with larger and some large schools get crushed by schools their size. I think if a power ranking was voted on and approved we could have more balanced areas and save money on travel. It seems weird that at least two classifications have one area that has close to 60% if the State placers coming out of it.

Inactiveare they going to do this for every sport? If the answer is no then there is a better chance of Camden losing this weekend than this ever happening!

InactiveThere are many things that wrestling does different than any other sport.

InactiveHow about this: You build a system in which you get promoted and relegated based on your season performance. You re draw areas based on the new teams in the class, say your promote the Top 8 Teams in each and relegate the worst team in each area….just an idea

InactiveY’all don’t get it, GHSA only cares about football and revenue. That’s why we have 7A and the powers above are seeking for more Classifications.

InactiveWe get it. I am just hoping that if you speak it, maybe it gets picked up by the Universe and eventually becomes a reality. 😉

InactiveI wish they would but that would take too much time that GHSA would not invest into wrestling. With that said I know at least in Class A they have switched the sectionals around the last few years to make sure the best areas aren’t matching up in sectionals anymore. That’s a big plus and moving in the right direction. They have made it so the best two areas are in different sectionals each year.

InactiveI wish they would do that for 3A and 2A. Area four in both classifications is stacked.

InactiveBe honest, who besides me laughed out loud at the following “I know at least in Class A they have switched the sectionals around the last few years to make sure the best areas aren’t matching up in sectionals anymore”
best areas- areas as in plural? give me a break! There is one maybe two other teams that even know how to put on their headgear properly.

Inactive40 coaches meet pre-season to get the horrible knee rule fixed when a kid is on his back out of bounds.
Unanimously agree how they want it fixed and then later it gets presented to GHSA to fix. If you haven’t noticed we’re still stuck with the rule nobody wants. My point is…I wouldn’t want to give GHSA the opportunity to add more legislation to our sport. The organization is unable our unwilling to fix the simplest of problems with wrestling even if everyone agrees that there is a problem.

InactiveSo is it possible to put a board of wrestling coaches and referees at GHSA that handle the sport of wrestling for them? If we agreed to do the work for them would they allow that?

InactiveEveryone please excuse snapon, he was one of those kids that wore his headgear backwards. Causing him to pick on the kids doing it in today’s time.

InactiveGreat call Snapon! You’re right all Class A sucks and has no clue how to wrestle but 1 or 2 teams. I would agree Class A isnt as strong as the other classes as a whole, but they still have some teams and individuals that can compete.

InactiveIt’s like mama always said you just can’t fix stupid.

InactiveJust putting a penny in the pile, since we beating on single a… Triple a isn’t much better as a whole.. went and watched Jackson and north hall in the finals last weekend.. I know now why they don’t wrestle the other teams in Duals in their own county. Guys get out and search for a loss!! Winning against lesser competition isn’t going to make your team better.
Atleast 3a will get the Dragons back in it next year..
