InactiveA few observations from this weekend:
1. Where is the improvement in GA wrestling past posts speak of?
Must be out there with Big Foot. If it exists, I haven’t seen it.
Maybe some of you toothless rednecks can tell us where it is.
The section I was watching was supposed to be one of the toughest in the state and I witnessed some truly terrible wrestling. There are a handful of really good, a couple hammers(and I think most all these kids train togther)?…..and then the herd.
I don’t see any depth. Only saw one good match all weekend- McCrary vs Ashton and that one wouldn’t be close if McCrary would open up.2. GA officiating is horrendous. Apart from a very few really good officials it is pitiful how poor our officiating throughout the year is. Officials who have no awareness of the flow of the action on the mat, lose track of the scoring to give the wrong wrestler the win, are constantly out of position, don’t know what constitutes a takedown, ……….there aren’t words enough to describe the horribleness(is that a word?) IMO the officials do more to contribute to the pitiful, slow, weak wrestling that we witness every season. Physical wrestling is discouraged when wrestlers are hit for points for being too physical yet others are allowed to hang on a leg, drive wrestlers out of bounds and hang on the waist for 30 seconds to prevent an escape.
Wrestlers are allowed to back up, play the edge and flee the hold yet, never get called. No wonder GA is a joke-3. AAAAAAAAAAAAA’s- perhaps almost as bad as the officiating in contributing to the suck that is GA wrestling-
4. 106, all classes, is the most dreadful weight class I have seen in years.
I’m sure underpants, wrestlemom and short-bus driver will tell us how great -1A sectionals were and that Commerce will beat Buford, and how Jefferson and Camden are the greatest programs in the history of the world.
At least I’ll get to watch That Ruffin kid treat everyone like his prison toy next weekend.

InactiveAll due respect–
Let’s be honest, if you’re rooting for Woodland- up in Cartersville, you’re not too much removed from “toothless redneck”. You might have 5 or 6 teeth instead of full-on toothless.#keyboardtoughguys

InactiveDamn I’m sorry 106 is so bad and you cant hardly stand it watch it , chubby . Maybe next time you can just sleep in and get there for 113 when they start

InactiveI got your redneck when you want to come out of hiding. The name Chubby sounds like a Child Molester vs an advocate of the sport of wrestling. If your boy got an asswhppin and you can’t take it, there are multiple wrestling facilities for you to drive them to. Don’t forget you can always pay tuition if all else fails you Chubby F…

InactiveDon’t see Commerce beating Buford or Jefferson, but they would keep it close and easily one of the top tier teams in GA and Southeast. FYI they are the only team from GA that’s wrestled in The Clash the last few years.

InactiveChubby might have a valid point…. a girl made the finals of sectionals at 106
February 5, 2018 at 2:21 pm #9791Anonymous
InactiveStatesboro’s girl at 106 is allegedly a generational talent. Flo has her as the #8 girl in the nation at 122, 3 weight classes above the weight class she actually wrestles at. She went 2-2 at state last year and she’s a senior now so it’s not really a surprise that she’s working a bunch of typically 9th/10th grade boys at 106.
The dude from Veterans was 40-2 when she beat him, so I guess that’s an upset, but an occasional random girl having success at 106 isn’t that indicting about the overall quality of wrestling.

InactiveIs the forum back? Underpants, that’s some funny stuff right there! Your mean talk is certainly scary. I bet Chubby is shaking in his boots right now! I don’t disagree with 106 being pretty weak outside of a few kids. But, I think HVY is the worst. Those matches , outside of Robinson, are like watching paint dry. I think there should be a new rule for HVY matches. The ref should throw a Twinkie down to start the match. Can you imagine watching Chuck Pope and another wrestler of the same girth wrestling for a Twinkie?
I may take Knightboys advice and sleep till 113 and then go back to sleep after I watch Eller and Johnson? Hell, I might even sleep til the finals. Most brackets will be walk throughs for the champs. Here are a few I do want to watch wrestle. Someone wake me when they are up.
Eli Knight
Tyler Hunt
Trevor Burdick
Justin Ruffin
Caden McCrary
Drew Eller
Jackson Disario
Evan Gianfala
Braden Johnson
Trip Bremen
Ian Statia
Nick Stonecheck

InactiveI like your list although I would add one more. I’m sure you know who that is.
Glad to see DiSario on the list. Over the last 3 years he has just competed and works hard.
Obviously I’m an Eller fan. Anyone at the 6A Section B at Lanier knows that his semifinals and finals had most of the building buzzing. Just simply fun to watch.
Can’t wait to have our talented Georgia kids in the same building this week.

InactiveI have to add Vincent Mannella to that list. I had the pleasure to watch him all year. I would put him, pound for pound, up against any wrestler in the State.

InactiveI did miss a few I want to watch that I’ll add:
Krug
Masters
Formato
Ashton
And correct Trip Breeden
Crap, I’ll have to take Masters and Manella off the list
Because underpants says we can’t watch kids that go to school
Where they have to pay tuition.February 5, 2018 at 11:16 pm #9807Anonymous
InactiveI’m looking forward to see these match-ups:
AAA
106 – Knight vs Whitmire
120 – Glenn vs Carter (Rd 3)
160 – Hafez vs the fieldAAAA
126 – Mulvany vs Statia
145 – Seals vs Strong
160 – most of the 2nd round
182 – crump vs de la cruzFebruary 5, 2018 at 11:56 pm #9808Anonymous
InactiveChubby makes some very strong points regarding the 5A Sectional held at Buford this past weekend. The wrestling was not very good but the only thing worse was the officiating……I was reminded of a post Golhoffer made last year about a blind lama. I know its spelled Gollhofer but he spelled my son’s name wrong earlier so this was payback.
Captain Underpants accuses Chubby of hiding behind his handle but he choses to do the same thing. Hard to respect a guy who doesn’t have the stones to put his name out there. Pretty good observations Chubster.
This is David Breeden BTW-February 6, 2018 at 12:27 am #9809Anonymous
InactiveCaptain Underpants, you and JSnowflake have scared me into altering my opinion. The wrestling this weekend was the strongest I have ever seen in America, the officiating on the mark and 106 is the strongest class I have ever seen in the history of Ga wrestling. Man, I did miss HVY weight so Knightboys, I stand corrected.
You girl’s tough talk really scared me into rethinking my position as an advocate for GA wrestling-?. I also believe we should add 2 more classifications next year! Just think how strong 106 will be at 9A! Chuck Pope could also win Super Fat at 9A.
As for paying tuition, why would I not? I choose to send my son to a school with like minded young men who train hard and want to be champions. The tuition pales in comparison to the money I have
paid the compound, paid for camps, and travel all over the country the past several years but, it’s worth every cent. Don’t cry just cause you can’t afford to pay tuition- I know it’s tough on what McDonalds pays you- Since y’all like #S#meangirls?

InactiveCrump has already beat DeLa Cruz pretty easily. His semis match with Deal is going to be good
